Increasing its claim in the mobile market with the Radeon RX 5000 and Ryzen 4000 series at CES 2020, AMD does not want to stay behind its competitors. The American manufacturer has stated that it will present the new Radeon RX 6000 and Ryzen 5000 hardware in 2021. However, these hardware, unlike last year, will appear in high-end laptops users. One of these laptops, ASUS ROG G15, came out with the Radeon RX 6800M graphics card. ASUS ROG G15 Strix computers are one of the company’s top model notebooks.

AMD wants to increase its competence in the mobile market with a change that started in 2020. The company introduces new graphics cards and processors to the market. Unfortunately, these graphics cards and processors did not deliver what was expected. We haven’t seen the RX 5000 series graphics cards in almost any laptop model. In addition, AMD was disappointed that Ryzen 4000 series processors were not used in high-end models due to inter-company agreements.
AMD did not get what it wanted in the mobile market last year. This year the situation looks set to reverse for AMD. Unlike last year, Ryzen 5000 series processors were used in high-end laptops such as ASUS ROG. Now the RX 6800M with 12GB of VRAM has appeared in the ASUS ROG G15 Strix model. The video card used with the Ryzen 5900HX processor corresponds to the RX 6700 XT on the desktop.
The RX 6800M comes with NAVI 22 GPU and has 2560 CUDA cores. The graphics card is based on the 7nm RDNA 2 architecture and will likely be AMD’s flagship in mobile.
AMD stated at the RX 6700 XT event that desktop graphics cards will also come to the mobile market. However, the model names are not fully specified. With the leaked ROG G15 model, the future of the RX 6800M model is also certain.
Graphics cards for mobile devices are unknown, but the following graphics card models may come. The estimates are that there will be 5 different models: RX 6800M, RX 6700M, RX 6600M, RX 6500M and RX 6300M.
