Cyberpunk 2077 Epilepsy Warning On PC

Cyberpunk 2077 Epilepsy Warning On PC

A new update to Cyberpunk 2077 added a “risk of seizure” warning to the PC version of the game. This warning is currently only visible on PC, and not PlayStation or Xbox. It follows a previous report that a Game Informer employee this week experienced epilepsy symptoms while reviewing the game. The developer CD Projekt Red‘s commitment to updating the game in response.

The latest warning text is common – the kind you’ve probably seen so far in a variety of video games, if not earlier in Cyberpunk 2077. Even it clearly marks the series of flashing lights shown when they join the braindane of the game.

“Warning: Risk of Seizure,” the warning contains. “In this game, you will encounter a variety of visual effects (eg. flashing lights during braindance sequences) that may provoke seizures or loss of consciousness in a minority of people. If you or someone in your family has ever displayed symptoms of epilepsy in the presence of flashing lights, please consult your physician before playing Cyberpunk 2077. If you or someone you know experiences any of the above symptoms while playing, stop, and seek medical attention immediately.”

On Tuesday this week, Cyberpunk 2077 was described as a potential risk of epilepsy in a high-profile PSA article published by Game Informer on the basis of a pre-release copy. UK charity Epilepsy Action later called for an urgent update of the game in response. Later that day, CD Projekt said it added a seizure warning to the EULA text on the game’s website. But now adds one to the game as well. It seems that this is what is currently being implemented. Beyond that, CD Projekt said that it is “currently investigating” a more permanent solution.
