D-Link Introduces “World’s First Wi-Fi 6 Adapter” at CES 2021
Taiwan-based technology company D-Link introduced the new Wi-Fi 6 adapter at CES 2021. The tech company claims that the new Wi-Fi adapter it introduced was one of a kind in the market. At CES 2021 (Consumer Electronics Fair); which was held digitally this year due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Taiwan-based D-Link company announced the Wi-Fi 6 USB 3.0 adapter. The company also claimed that this Wi-Fi adapter was the first of its kind.
This new Wi-Fi adapter from D-Link is capable of speeds up to 574 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band; and up to 1,200 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. Users can plug this adapter into the USB port of their laptop and desktop computers for better performance.
Introduced by D-Link at CES 2021, the AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 USB 3.0 Adapter (DWA-X1850) is described by the company as; the first Wi-Fi 6 USB 3.0 adapter in the market. According to the statement made by D-Link, the Wi-Fi 6 adapter offers an affordable option for users; who want to upgrade their computer to 802.11ax technology.
WPA3 Wi-Fi encryption
According to the statement, it is necessary to be connected to a Wi-Fi 6 router in order to take full advantage of this adapter. Considering this is a relatively new technology, we can state that it is written in the minus digit; at least for now. Coming with WPA3 Wi-Fi encryption for optimal network and device protection, the DWA-X1850; comes with an automatic setup driver on operating systems from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
According to the news in Ndtv, this adapter will be available in the second quarter of 2021 and will have a price tag of $ 100.
