Elon Musk’s Response to WhatsApp’s Reacting Confidentiality Agreement

WhatsApp has started to share its changing terms and privacy policies with its users as of today. This new update of the instant messaging application that allows data sharing with Facebook received a message from Elon Musk, who loves to express his opinions on such issues. WhatsApp has garnered a lot of reaction due to its agreement, which includes new privacy principles and terms, which it started to submit to users’ approval today. The reason for these reactions is that WhatsApp will have the right to collect a lot of data, especially message history, and to share this data directly with Facebook and all Facebook companies.

This situation, which has been a subject of great debate for years, now comes up with an official contract. Moreover, users who do not accept this agreement will not be able to use WhatsApp. However, the terms of the contract will come into effect on February 8, 2021, and if you do not ratify the contract; you will have to say goodbye to WhatsApp from that date. After the introduction of the new contract, many users started to switch to alternative instant messaging applications. A great suggestion for users who switch to various applications such as Telegram, Viber, ICQ came from Elon Musk. Stating his opinion on the agenda, Musk summed up his reaction to the situation in two very simple words: ‘Use Signal’.

Alternative Messaging Apps

This meaningful sharing of Elon Musk will undoubtedly not be liked by Mark Zuckerberg; but we think it is a good suggestion. Ultimately, it is not very desirable to store messages and to be accessible to a large army of Facebook companies; which we never know exactly where they are used. After WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook years ago; the company’s founders left the company citing processing of personal data and breaches of privacy. After this breakup, Brian Acton, one of the co-founders, founded Signal, a new instant messaging application with Moxie Marlinspike.
