Epic Games Announces No Face-to-Face Events For Fortnite In 2021
Epic Games has made an announcement about the future of Fortnite events. According to the statement, Epic Games will not have face-to-face events for Fortnite in 2021. The reason for this is that Epic Games cares about the health and safety of players and employees.
North Carolina-based video game development company Epic Games has previously been known for the Gears of War and Unreal series. The company, which is also the developer of the game engine called Unreal Engine, has become much more popular, especially with the battle royale game called Fortnite, which was released in 2017.
In addition, Epic Games has published various activities for Fortnite before. These included face-to-face events, such as tournaments. Epic Games made a new statement about the events expected to be held in 2021. The company announced that any face-to-face event related to Fortnite in 2021 will be delayed indefinitely.
However, the company has stated that they will work to keep the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) event throughout the year and focus more on weekly tournaments. Epic Games stated, “Our intention is to eventually organize face-to-face tournaments again, but our priority for such events is the health and safety of our players and staff.”
They also added: “We still don’t know much about what is practical and safe. So we do not plan to organize any face-to-face events in 2021, including the Fortnite World Cup. We will continue to host online events in 2021 in the hope that we can return to face-to-face events in the future“.
