Genshin Impact Adds PS5 Compatibility
Genshin Impact, the popular open-world gacha-based RPG, will be playable on PS5 thanks to backward compatibility. The upcoming Version 1.1 update, called A New Star Approaches, will add brand new missions that conclude the Liuye phase of the main story, as well as a next-gen compatibility ability and four new playable characters. The new update A New Star Approaches to be released on November 11.
Two of these new characters are 5-star, including Childe and Zhongli. Childe is a Hydro archer that can switch between long-range and melee attacks. Zhongli is a Geo polearm that can deal damage in large areas, make strong defenses and stun enemies. The other two new characters, Xinyan and Diona, are 4-star and not much has been revealed about the duo. From character images, it appears Xinyan might have a music-based attack in her arsenal.
A new Reputation system will also be part of the update. Travelers can increase their Reputation for each city they travel to and earn rewards such as region-specific items and customizations in return.
Players will also be able to access Unreconciled Stars, Genshin Impact’s first seasonal event. Teyvat facing a terrifying disaster, players will tackle the crisis through new missions and co-op challenges. Players can earn new rewards, including the 4-star Fischl character.
The Genshin Impact is free to play on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. PS5 owners will also be able to play the game on November 12.
