MediaTek to Launch First 5 nm Chipset in 2022

MediaTek, one of the leading companies in mobile processor production; is expected to introduce its new chips called Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 next Wednesday.

Smartphone manufacturers that will use these 6 nm circuit chips have also been announced. According to the information revealed by the Digital Chat Station; these 6 nm chips will first be used by OPPO and Vivo. In addition, it is stated that these chips will be used in Redmi devices.

MediaTek is working on 5 nm chips as well as 6 nm chipsets and it is stated that these chips will be released in the first quarter of next year. While OPPO and Vivo will be the first customers for these chips, Honor is expected to be one of the companies that will use these chipsets. This chipset, which is claimed to be called Dimensity 2000, will be the first chipset in this series to use a high-performance Cortex-X core. Cortex-A79 CPU cores and Mali-G79 GPU cores will also be used in this chipset, according to the news in GSMArena.

A new faster architecture

It is also possible that the A79, which is expected to be removed this year, is a MediaTek Matterhorn core. While a 2.5-fold increase is expected over older cores such as the A73; the performance improvement is expected to be relatively small compared to the A78. Matterhorn will also come with hardware to detect memory security breaches. Makalu, the architecture after MediaTek Matterhorn, will be 30% faster than A78 cores. Although it is not yet clear whether there will be an X2 core or not, it is estimated that there will be no X2 core until 2023; considering that it will not be mass-produced. Another interesting point about the article will be that it will leave 32-bit support and work with 64-bit software. Don’t forget to check our other news here.
