Microsoft Acquired Activision Blizzard!

Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, in a deal that cost around £50billion ($68billion USD).

Xbox CEO Phil Spencer made the official announcement in this Xbox Wire article; which Bloomberg writer Dina Bass reports was about for $68.7 billion.

It is currently unknown whether this means that franchises such as Call of Duty will be Xbox exclusive titles, but Spencer notes that “as the year comes to a close, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard’s incredible catalog.” In addition, we revealed today that Game Pass now has over 25 million subscribers. As always, we look forward to adding more value and outstanding games to Game Pass.”

According to Spencer, “Activision Blizzard and Microsoft Gaming will continue to operate independently until this transaction complete”. Following the completion of the transaction, the Activision Blizzard business will report to me as CEO of Microsoft Gaming“. This could indicate that current Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick will get fired; as well as the corporation, following allegations that he was aware of and chose to conceal the company’s persistent wrongdoing and harassment.

Activision Blizzard has also began eliminating employees suspected of wrongdoing; and Kotick allegedly told people that he waited until the new year to remove employees because he was afraid the company’s problems would “appear greater” than they are.
