Qualcomm Obtains Required License To Sell Processor To Huawei

Qualcomm is one of the first companies when we talk about mobile processors. This giant processor firm managed to get a license to supply Huawei chipsets. However, this license obtained by the company has some limitations. Huawei was the company that was affected by the tension between the US and China the most. As a result of this tension, the company lost its business partners in the USA. One of Huawei‘s business partners was Qualcomm. Due to tensions between the two countries, Qualcomm left Huawei.

Qualcomm, known for its Snapdragon SoCs, managed to obtain a license to supply chipsets to Huawei. However, according to new information, this license that the company has acquired has some restrictions. According to the news in the Chinese press, Qualcomm has been allowed to sell its mobile processors to Huawei. However, as we said above, it came with limitations; They are only allowed to sell 4G chips. However, Qualcomm also applied for a license to sell 5G chipsets.

These sanctions against the Chinese technology giant Huawei started last year. Cooperation between US companies and Huawei was blocked and was adversely affected by these sanctions. After the blocking of cooperation with companies such as Huawei, Qualcomm and MediaTek, its devices were almost completely turned to HiSilicon Kirin processors. Qualcomm‘s license for 4G chips means that we can see Snapdragon processors on middle segment Huawei devices from now on. Of course, we can also say that Qualcomm still has the possibility to obtain a license for 5G chips. The time will tell.
