Report Showing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Sales Released

Market analysis firm GamingSmart published a new report showing the sales of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2020. According to the report, Sony doubled its rival Microsoft in worldwide sales. On the other hand, Xbox dominates the most important market such as China and the USA. After extended await and delays, the new generation game consoles; PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S were finally released worldwide in November of last year. Although many different analysts predict that Microsoft‘s new console will outperform Sony‘s PlayStation 5; a new report published shows that this is not exactly the case.

According to the report shared by market analysis firm GamingSmart, Sony sold a total of 4.48 million units of PlayStation 5 in 2020, taking over 65.05% of the market. On the other hand, Microsoft‘s new consoles Xbox Series X / S, remained at 2.4 million units, holding 34.94% of the market share. Sony ranks first in almost all of the 167 countries analyzed by the company with its PlayStation 5 console, while Microsoft is the leader in only 12 regions. At this point, it is worth noting that Microsoft is the leader in the two most important markets, such as the USA and China.
