Samsung Adds OLED Displays to Laptops

Samsung showed the ultra-quality OLED screens developed for laptops with the new promotional video they shared. With their new screens, Samsung promises to offer the image quality of Galaxy flagship smartphones on laptops.

CES (Consumer Electronics Show) will be held online this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, this does not seem to reduce the interest of technology giants in the fair. Samsung, one of the largest consumer electronics companies in the world; is planning on introducing various new TVs, monitors and laptops at CES 2021.

For the moment, we do not have much information about how Samsung will come out with a laptop and what position it will take in the competition. However, the company released a promotional video for the OLED screens that it will use on its laptops, hinting that we should not keep our expectations low.

Before going to technical details; It should be noted that Samsung showed an almost bezel-less laptop screen in the video. As you know, laptop screens always had screen frames at a certain level, no matter how high their quality was. Samsung may have overcame this problem with its new laptops.

According to the video, Samsung will feature advanced OLED panels we see in Galaxy flagship smartphones or new iPhones in its new generation laptops. This way, we will be able to see high contrast ratios of 1.000.000:1, which we are not used to seeing on a laptop screen, and an impressive black “brightness” such as 0.0005 nits.

Also, according to the same video, Samsung’s new laptop screens will support the DCI-P3 color gamut by 120 percent and HDR by 85 percent. This means that even using Samsung’s 2021 model laptops under daylight will not be a problem. Samsung does not specify which laptops will have these screens in the video in question.
