WhatsApp Will Not Be Available On Some Older Phones From January 1st
Those using an old-fashioned Android or iPhone smartphone will partially or completely lose access to WhatsApp after January 1, 2021. WhatsApp will not work on older devices next year. This will cause some devices to not receive support completely. Some devices will be able to access the application but will not be able to use all the features.
Devices that will have problems accessing the application after January 1, 2021; will be iPhone models with operating system iOS 9 or below or other Android models with Android 4.0.3 and below. In other words, those using iPhone 4 or lower models will not be able to get the latest WhatsApp update. In addition, models such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 will no longer receive updates. Some WhatsApp users have the opportunity to update their operating system above iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3. If you own one of these phones, you will need to update your device to avoid being affected by WhatsApp‘s new decision.
Updates Will No Longer Come
You can use Settings> General> Software update to update the operating system of your iPhone. Here you can see your current operating system. Android users, on the other hand, can see the update from Settings or About, although it varies from device to device. There is no statement on the subject from Facebook, which owns WhatsApp yet. However, it will not surprise anyone to explain that this situation is generally related to the decrease in the usage rate of these phones. As the usage rate of phones decreases, it becomes a bigger expense for companies to support these devices.
If you are unable to update your smartphone’s operating system to a newer version, it is possible that you will lose access to other applications, not just WhatsApp. Perhaps it will be useful to renew your smartphone during this period.
