Shadowlands Expansion Has The Highest Sell

The upcoming expansion of World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands has provided more pre-sales than any other expansion in the game’s sixteen-year history.

Activision Blizzard CEO, Bobby Kotick, said that “We’ve seen unprecedented engagement trends since the subscriber base doubled following the launch of Classic last year,”. “Pre-sales of the upcoming Shadowlands expansion are the highest we’ve seen at this stage ahead of any release.”

Daniel Alegre added, “Franchise engagement is at its highest level for this stage ahead of an expansion in a decade,”. Kotick adding that World of Warcraft generates “over $1 billion” in annual net bookings, alongside its FPS series.

World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands expansion was delayed earlier this month, just one week before the originally anticipated October release date. The expansion will now kick off on November 23rd.

Blizzard initially told World of Warcraft fans that Shadowlands would arrive on October 27. However, Blizzard later stated that “it become clear we need a little more time to finalize the game”. “And to balance and iterate on some interlocking pieces”.

The developer announced that they will use the additional time to “further polish the game and work on the endgame as well, including overhauling the combat and rewards in the Maw”. “And reworking the Covenant systems to make your choice more immediately impactful and have clearer-long term goals”.
