Google has started testing a new feature it will add to the YouTube app. The new feature, called “listening control“, will provide more options when playing a music video.
According to the news of 9to5Google, with the new feature, a small button that says “Show Listening Controls” will appear while a music video is playing in the YouTube application. When you press this button, information about the song currently on, as well as icons such as play, pause, next song, and 10 seconds forward and rewind will appear at the top in a larger way.
For now, it seems to be in the testing phase for YouTube Premium subscribers using iOS. The resulting new interface shows that some people are familiar with audio-only listening on the main client. And it shows that YouTube is finally working to deliver an optimized in-app experience.
While it remains unclear for now whether the Listening Controls feature will apply to everyone, it is certain that they will not keep the testing process short. Apart from that, Google is considering taking advantage of Premium payment plans to encourage upgrades and remove ads. What will this new feature bring to be table is yet to be seen.
